Lyndsay Bourne
After being together 6 years and having 2 children, my partner Michael and I really thought it was about time we got married. So, in mid 2008 we set a date. Friday 16th October 2009. We weren't officially engaged and there was no ring yet, but we had our date. We booked everything - including our celebrant On the 14th March 09 he finally asked me to marry him.
My dress - well that was easy! It was love at first sight - from my favourite show McLeods Daughters. The minute I saw it I knew that I would wear that dress.
I was very hands on with the decorations, I bought some Starfish photo frames from Beyond the Bride store and hand painted all 80 of them to fit our purple & white theme. I did all the centerpieces myself, and had fun with my future mother in law making the bomboniere's.
I woke up on the morning of our wedding feeling fantastic. The weather was perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better day to have a Beach Wedding! I was so nervous, before I knew it my photographer was knocking on the door.
Getting dressed, I felt like a Princess. All my wonderful family and friends around me helping me get the dress on. I looked in the mirror and cried. I couldn\'t believe that person in the mirror was ME!
My 10 year old son from my previous marriage gave me away. We shared some very funny stories on the way down the beach. It was such a special moment and he was so proud to give me away. Everything was just so beautiful. We stayed around Terrigal Beach (The Haven) it was just too perfect to move.
So with a wedding - you expect there to be hiccups. Our MC stuffed up all our names during the Grand Entrance. Including my new married name! We opted not to have a DJ and have a solo artist. That was our biggest mistake. But I still don\'t really regret it.
My husband surprised me during his wedding speech. He came over to me and got me on the dance floor and started singing to me. Michael doesn\'t do singing. Everyone was cheering him on... I still can't believe he did that! It was beautiful.
Our bridal waltz was amazing - it really felt like there was only the two of us in the room.
We were the last ones to leave as we were having such a great time. We had a funny end to our night... Michael couldn't get my dress off so we had to ring the staff to come up and help. It was hilarious!!
